Vajin Armstrong is a New Zealand representative ultra distance runner specialising in trail and mountain events. He has won numerous events both nationally and internationally and is a three time champion of New Zealand’s prestigious Kepler Challenge.
He will speak about the importance of finding ones own meaning and purpose in life and in sport. He has found the practice of meditation to be fundamental to his own success and will share some of the techniques he uses. These techniques aim to maximise performance and the enjoyment of whichever activity one chooses to partake in.

Sanjay Rawal is a filmmaker and an amateur marathon runner. His most recent movie 3100: Run and Become not only chronicled the world’s longest running race, the Self-transcendence 3100 mile race, but interwove Navajo, Kalahari Bushman and Marathon Monk narratives. The Film received great praise both in the United States and in Europe and was featured on a number of Podcasts including Rich Roll.
Sanjay regularly speaks about the spiritual connection between sports, running and meditation. In this workshop, he will present his experiences with traditional running cultures, the lessons he learned, and how those practices can both strengthen and be strengthened by a deep contemplative practice. He will go over the ancestral philosophy of enhancing one’s performance in any aspect of life whether sport, business or personal through practices like concentration and meditation.
