The Lotus-Heart is proud to be supporting “Songs of the Soul,” at the Piano, 6 November, 8.00pm.
Join us for an unforgettable free concert featuring world and classical musicians. Journey across a sublime musical landscape of eastern and western, tranquil and dynamic, magical and meditative melodies.
• Shamita Achenbach of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra
• Sahadeva Torpy with his 20 piece concert jazz orchestra
• Alap Jetzer: Renowned New Age musician, flute player and maker.
• Monk Party: Auckland father and son duo performing on guitar and world percussion instruments – cajon, oud and bodhrán
This vibrant entourage of musicians perform the music of Maestro Sri Chinmoy: musician, poet, artist and master of meditation who voiced an endless vista of spiritual experience through over 22,000 songs. Blending styles of East and West, contemporary and classical – piano, harp, sitar, Indian flute and tamboura play in harmony to bring forth an experience of elevated music and an experience of inner peace. Over the past 7 years, more than 200 free concerts in this series have been offered throughout Europe and North America. Their first tour of Australia and New Zealand in November 2016 will give listeners the chance to be uplifted and enchanted by Sri Chinmoy’s compositions.
Highly regarded for his creative capacity, Sri Chinmoy himself performed hundreds of free concerts during his lifetime. He believed that “Music is the universal language. Soulful music is next to meditation, and it carries the beauty and fragrance of silence.”
The Songs of the Soul Concert will be held at The Piano, a world class facility for New Zealand and a home for music and the arts in Canterbury, in The Philip Carter Family Concert Hall with a raised stage and tiered concert hall seating auditorium, accoustics designed to enhance the presentation of the musical performances to the fullest, and the latest in lighting and audio/visual technologies.
Admission is free but seating is limited. Please reserve tickets by visiting www.songsofthesoul.org

Blenders: Vitamix, Blendtec and Omega. These are the highest quality, most durable and most powerful blenders available and are crucial in The Lotus-Heart kitchen for creating our raw food dishes. With 2HP and 3HP motors, these blenders power through the densest ingredients, perfectly marrying them to one another, resulting in beautifully smooth soups, smoothies and raw meals. You are also guaranteed a blender that will not burn out under the pressure of heavy ingredients.

…That the drink of tea was discovered when leaves from the camellia sinensis tree were caught upon the wind and dropped into an Emperor’s cup. Enticed by the fragrance of the tea rising up from the hot water, he took a sip, and the drink was born.
While the legend is most likely folklore, it causes one to wonder what unknown tastes are sitting just beyond our senses and attention.
Though with cultivated products taking over most of our culinary experience, the evolution of food is taking place in a new way. In an increasingly global community, doors to exotic places and new flavours are opening right in front of us, and international cuisines are melding before our eyes. Not only do these exotic flavours expand our palate, they offer a source of nourishment to which our bodies might not be otherwise exposed.
